This listing is for an extremely RARE and ORIGINAL 1943 World War II UNIFORM and INSIGNIA RECOGNITION GUIDE JAN #1 , A Joint Army and Navy Publication prepared by the Military Intelligence Service and the Division of Naval Intelligence. Item is bound in a stiff card stock, clamshell type box in a rectangular format held together with a cloth tie, allowing individual sections to be removed as needed. This joint effort between the Army and Navy Intelligence Services produced an exceptionally detailed artistic description of all manner of Uniforms and Insignia for the Allied, Axis and Neutral Countries during the War.
The plates themselves are in excellent shape though the clamshell box shows wear, and the Introduction page has foxing. Armed Forces section has a tremendous quantity of visual information including but not limited to. Navy Specialty Marks, Ratings and Buttons.Marine Corps Collar, Lapel and Shoulder Strap Insignia. Coast Guard Insignia and Specialty Marks. Army, Navy & Marine Corps Aircraft Insignia. There are more Plates here, as well as fourteen (14) other color tabbed sections.
Brazilian Navy (though tabbed, there are no plates in this section). The Naval Officer who owned this Guide has his name on the front page. In researching this original volume, many times color plates will be missing or whole sections will be gone.
