ORIGINAL, RARE & VG+ Condition WWII Type II 10th Mountain Div/FSSF Pocket Knife

ORIGINAL, RARE & VG+ Condition WWII Type II 10th Mountain Div/FSSF Pocket Knife! This is an ORIGINAL and increasingly RARE WWII bone-gripped pocket knife issued to the troopers of the 10th Mountain Division and reputedly also to the members of the First Special Service Force (aka "The Devil's Brigade" or "FSSF") in the ETO. It has remained in my collection ever since, but now the time has come to part with it. This knife has jigged bone grips and five blades with stainless steel liners, as follows: main blade, small "sheepsfoot" blade, can opener and awl or punch. The knife has seen extensive use, but all blades are bright.

There is sharpening to the main and sheep's foot blades (see images below). The FIFTH blade, if you can call it that, is a Phillips head screwdriver blade used for adjusting the ski bindings. Unlike my other mountain knives in my collection, the Phillips head screwdriver has had the second blade ground off, so its now a conventional blade screwdriver (See image below). Is stamped on the obverse of the main blade's ricasso.

This knife was termed the "Type II" by the renowned edged weaponry authority Howard Cole, due the flat shape of the staple or bale on the knife, and is pictured at page 50 of Book III of his. Military Knives, Bayonets and Machetes.

The wide bale has the usual U. Stamped on it (see image above). This is an increasingly rare knife and would be a great addition to either an advanced 10th Mountain, FSSF or edged weapons collection. I'm a militaria collector like you and I do this as a sideline to my own collecting.
