RARE KIKU MON WWII Japanese Sword PARADE SABER World War 2 Shin Gunto Blade. This is an original WWII Japanese officers Parade Saber from World War 2. The sword features a very rare Kiku mon on the backstrap. The blade and the mountings are in Very Good condition. The blade is 32.5 inches long (83cm).
The blade features bo-hi, or fullers, on both sides. The blade shows an etched gunome hamon along its length.
The handle also includes a highly desirable Kiku mon on the pommel. Kiku mon were generally reserved for usage by members or associates of the Imperial family. It is likely this saber was carried by someone of a higher rank or level of importance. The sword is in overall Very Good condition showing no nicks, some scattered small spots of rust, and some scratches along its length. The mountings are in Very Good condition.
The scabbard shows a couple small dents and some small scattered spots of rust. The handle shows a nice patina with a few wire wraps missing. Given the rarity of the Kiku mon, I think this Parade Saber would be an outstanding addition for a collector of WW2 militaria or Japanese swords. This item is original and not a fake. I can send additional detailed photos upon request.
