RARE Vintage Military M36AI Hard Carry Case WWII US Army Tank Shoulder Strap 44

For sale is a RARE Vintage WW2? Era Latching Hard Carrying Case with Shoulder Strap from the estate of a local collector.

Imprinted on the side in block letters are the words: CASE, CARRYING, M36A1 CASE WITHOUT CONTENTS, CASE WITH CONTENTS. Research tells me that the M36 was a U. Tank Destroyer, and it looks like there may have been an A1 or AI version, which would match the imprint on this case, so it seems this may have been used to carry gear or munitions for the M36, but I can't say for sure. I welcome any input from someone who has more knowledge than I have.

The case measures 43.5" X 5.5" X 5.5 and has a four-latch top, along with a canvas shoulder carry strap. The case has some surface rust in spots on the base and on the 4 latches; it is very dusty, but I made no attempt to clean anything, not wanting to disturb any part of the original surface. On the inside of the cap is a mount that looks like it might secure a pointed object; could this have been for a missile or munitions of some kind? I don't know, but the piece is very cool.
