This one is dated 1944. The stamp on the bottom of this jug reads as follows: Pearson & Co.

Made in England, Whittingham Moor. This vintage rum jug has still survived all of these years in absolute perfect condition. There are no cracks, breaks, or chips anywhere on it. The large screw on lid is is in perfect condition.

The original leather lid gasket is still in perfect condition as well, but it has dried out a bit. I have literally spent hours scouring the internet in search of another original British 2 gallon rum jug, and I have yet to find another. I could only find a story about someone having once seen one for sale years ago, and wishing that they had bought it. You will see many 1 gallon rum jugs for sale, but never another 2 gallon jug. Be sure to super size all of the pictures for a closer inspection.
