See photos for more details! Yes this and the other lots start at a much lower price than here. Whittingslowe Australian Army Utility Knife in it's original leather scabbard. The knife features plain wooden grips, with 3 screw in sections, being the peackock style pommel design with the original diamond knuckle guard.

Being stamped with the English broad arrow mark and the capital I. The blade features a sharpened edge, measuring 15 cm long and is maker marked'WE' for Whittingslowe Engineering, South Australia.

The knife fits smoothly into the leather scabbard, which shows some light use & wear. The scabbard retains the twin slits for belt attachment & brass loop catch to hold knife in place. Knife could use a cleaning unless the new owner likes the patina. During WW2 US forces based their soldiers in Australia before moving North to fight in New Guinea and also the Pacific campaign to Japan. Local knife producers were contracted to supply the US troops with utility/fighting knives, these producers were Gregsteel, East Brothers, Barkers Knives and Whittingslowe. The US termed these knives as'Commando Knives'. The knives were originally made for Australian troops with some of them bearing the'I' (inspection) and Broad arrow marks on the top of the crossguard.
