Rare WWII Navy USS Abbot Fletcher-Class Destroyer Anchor Chain Trench Art
You are looking at an amazing and exquisite Anchor chain off of the USS Abbot. From the extensive research I have started since 2009 and from what the old timer told me about this prestigious item correlates with the timeframe and location of the anchor chain. This is also included in my research which makes this item insanely rare! This Anchor weighs in at a massive 87.8 pounds! It is 5 feet and 5 inches long with a total of 8 links that are 10 inches 3/4 long, over 5 inches wide and is nearly 2 inches thick. USS Abbot (DD-629) was a Fletcher-class destroyer in the service of the United States Navy. USS Abbot served as an escort for larger warships conducting their own shakedown cruises. Launched - 17 February 1943. Commissioned - 23 April 1943. Decommissioned - 26 March 1965. Not all was scrapped and luckily this piece of history was saved!
