This is a fantastic original untouched WWII D Day USN helmet. The helmet has fixed bails and kahki strap webbing and is typically well used and has some steel cracks as can be expected as can be expected for a original D Day combat helmet. The helmet is scratched inside with the mans full initials G. And last four of his serial number, F-9457. The helmet and liner are exactly the same condition and match as they should, the liner is painted a unusual color and has some pencil writing here and there but nothing that to relate to the name in the helmet.

This helmet has been in my collection for the last 40 years and was originally found in a estate sale in Salem Oregon area. This is a classic and RARE helmet and you see just as it has been since WWII. See page 185 of the fine book by Chris Armold "painted steel" for similar original helmet and reference to the navy use of the grey painted band.
