Very Rare Original WWII 8 Crescent Wrench 41-W-486 G503 Ford/Willy's
Very Rare Original WWII 8 Crescent Wrench - 41-W-486 - G503 Ford/Willy's. This is an original Diamond Caulk Horseshoe Co "Diamalloy" crescent wrench. It was part of the official tool kit for Willy's and Ford MP/GPW jeeps during WWII. This wrench in particular is extra special, because it's actually stamped with the Gov.

It is not so easy to find one that is actually stamped with Fed #, proving indefinitely it's intended user and purpose. I've scoured the internet and I can't find a single other one that's actually up for sale. Having said that, if you can find one, I'd very much like to check it out. Wrench, Crescent, 8 inches - #41-W-486 - 8 inch Adjustable Wrench or Crescent Wrench was included in the prototype Ford GP, the early Script Ford GPW, and the Slatgrill Willys MB Tool kits as well as the tool kits for the standardized Willys MB and Ford GPW... At least up to the middle of 1943.

The 8 Adjustable Wrench is not listed in MB/GPW manuals as being part of the tool kit in 1944 and 1945. However it is listed as being part of the Motor Pool Mechanics tool kit.

So this wrench should be displayed as part of your 1941, 1942, 1943 GP, MB or GPW onboard tool set. Many companies made them including: Barcalo Buffalo, Fairmount, JP Daniels, Williams, Utica, Crescent, Diamond Calk, and others. Ford GP & Ford GPW part #GP-17023.
