AND ISSUED TO BOTH AUSTRALIAN AND U. A KIND EBAYer EMAILED ME WITH INFO ABOUT R T INITIALS WITH BROAD ARROW MARKINGS ON HANDLE. R T ARE THE INITIALS OF THE INSPECTOR. THIS COLLECTOR HAD AN EXAMPLE WITH THE SAME BROAD ARROW MARKING BUT DIFFERENT INITIALS. SO THEY ARE THE INITIALS OF KNIFE INSPECTOR.
BROAD ARROW WOULD SUGGEST AUSTRALIAN OR BRITISH ISSUE? Most of these Australian commando knives do not have inspection markings , neither do Sykes daggers.Sykes were issued in lots , and only one knife in each lot was marked with a broad arrow (pheon) to prove the whole lot was inspected. I dont know if these Australian made commando knives were issued the same way , with only one knife per lot with an inspection mark or all with broad arrow with inspectors initials????
Most Australian WWII issued l have seen are without inspection broad arrow. THIS IS A RARE MODEL WWII COMBAT KNIFE WITH RARE MARKINGS.
