To be kept informed of St. In need of an appraisal, or want to sell or consign your sword or entire collection? 71 5557 1 68 8. Exceedingly rare Chinese General's sword.

This rare piece would make an important addition to any premium collection. This sword was carried by a General of the Chinese Army. Note the plum blossom backstrap decorations. This sword would have been carried as early as 1912, and as late as 1926.

This sword was likely made towards the beginning of this time period, as there was greater Japanese influence/involvement, and also greater Japanese quality work (like is exhibited in this sword) near the beginning of this time period. Similarly, there was more Chinese influence in Chinese general swords towards the end of this time period. This sword was made in Japan for a Chinese General. Note the fine detail and craftsmanship unique to the Japanese.

The handle has fine horimono hand-carving--and intricate nanako-type stipling on the backstrap made up of literally hundreds and hundreds of individually made textured tool marks. I strongly recommend you take a close look at the detail in the photos. This sword has a cutting edge of 25 9/16 (65 cm) as measured from the blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki. The blade has a wavy, acid-etched yakiba/temper line. This sword is in fine condition.

The handle material is perfect. The original handle wire is complete. There is an occasional spot of oxidation on the cutting edge, and on the scabbard.
