WWII Era US Army D-Day Large Special Purpose Waterproof Pack Bag - Unissued Condition - RARE. No rips or tears in the material. It is still very pliable, not hard and stiff, as most examples that are encountered. There were a total of five different size Waterproof Bags used in the D Day Invasion.
This is an example of the largest of the lot. It is approximately 12" wide x 7" deep x 16 tall.It has an intergral set of back straps, so it can be carried on the back, just like a normal back pack. It is made from Rubberized canvas material with an additional internal rubberized liner. The internal liner folds up to seal out any unwanted moisture. These bags were specifically used for amphibious landings to protect signal (radio) and other sensitive equipment & supplies from water damage during the landings. Most of these bags were normally discarded after the landings were completed.
Thus making any example rather RARE. NOTE: this is a heavy item. This is an Excellent Condition Example to add to your WWII Collection. Check out my other items.
