The metal spade has some surface pitting. The wooden handles are in good shape, normal minor surface grain separations.
A small chip in the wood on the center of the handle shaft, see photo. Looks like it was repainted. Please see photo's for condition. This shovel was a field modification to prevent injury hazards during combat jumps. These are getting somewhat difficult to find. These were used by both the 101st and 82nd Airborne troops during their combat jumps over Europe. This is a necessary item for any WWII Field Gear Collection.Check out my other items.
